What do you do at ThreatQuotient?
I work on helping the ThreatQ product mature and grow to meet ever-evolving customer needs while creating an intuitive and delightful user experience. I spend my days talking to customers and creating user workflow diagrams, low-fidelity wireframes, and high-fidelity UI designs while working with our amazing developers to see these product designs through the Agile development process.

How long have you worked there?
I have been with ThreatQuotient for 7 months.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
My job is by nature both creative and collaborative problem solving, which appeal to two of my favorite activities: working closely with people and finding creative solutions to complex problems. I am also a highly visual learner and thinker, so I always enjoy tinkering with interface designs to make sure they are not only sleek in appearance, but also are logical and intuitive to use.

What do you enjoy most about the company?
The culture. This company has a unique culture of working hard with a sense of humor that you just can’t find anywhere else. You can see it in the hilarious and tasteful usage of gifs and memes across the company 🙂

How did you get into cybersecurity?
I actually found my way to cyber security through working in the national security technology space first. Surprisingly, there are some interesting parallels between the two! Although I have found the people and the users in the cyber security space to be much more data-centric…and -savvy for that matter!

What are your hopes for women in cybersecurity in the future?
My hope is that women in cyber security in the future encounter less obstacles and find more opportunities for growth as they work towards finding their voice in the field. I hope that they feel empowered to think critically and speak up in rooms that we may not have been invited to in the past. I hope that they know their worth and have the strength stand up for their value accordingly.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #ChooseToChallenge. How will you help forge a gender-equal world?
I will continue to challenge traditional, binary gender roles and expectations in my day to day life and personal relationships. By having these both casual and sometimes courageous conversations with friends and loved ones, we can leave a lasting impact on the minds of others at the community level. I will also seek opportunities to be an ally and advocate for those in the LGBTQ+ community who may struggle for access to healthcare by financially supporting organizations such as GMLA and Fenway Health, so that all people on the gender spectrum may have equal opportunities to find health and happiness in their lives.
