Olivia Henderson
Splunk – Senior Product Marketing Manager, Cybersecurity
Where do you work?
Splunk
How long have you worked here?
9 months
What do you enjoy most about your job and company?
I work on the product marketing team for Splunk Enterprise Security and Threat Intelligence
Management – it’s been a great experience to work on Splunk’s flagship SIEM product with an
amazing and energetic team. It’s rewarding to see this product achieve such industry recognition and
to support its continued evolution.
The culture at Splunk is welcoming and one where everyone is encouraged to speak up and feel
comfortable to contribute their ideas. In the short time I’ve been at Splunk, I have learned so much
from my colleagues and thank them for their continued support. I could not do my job without them!
How did you get into cybersecurity?
I started my career working as an open source / cyber intelligence analyst for a managed intelligence service. I recognized how much potential there was for security marketing – which inspired me to pursue a career in product marketing.
What are your hopes for women in cybersecurity in the future?
As this industry continues to evolve, I’d like to see more women in leadership positions as well as improved career growth opportunities. I strongly believe that having more women in leadership will inspire and encourage others to pursue a career in this industry. When more women are represented at the top, it brings a broader perspective and refreshing ideas to the table.
I hope women continue to support each other – give credit where credit is due – and never forget the
women who helped you along the way!
This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #EmbraceEquity. What does that mean to you?
Advocate on behalf of minorities and underrepresented groups. Always acknowledge and celebrate everyone’s accomplishments. The best way to #EmbraceEquity is to work together and respect each other.
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
….I think a banker? But also a Spice Girl.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Always go with your gut.
