Women in Cybersecurity

PROFILE - RACHEL SQUIRE

Rachel Squire

Marketing Operations Consultant – MOBI Solutions

How long have you worked there?
Just had my 1 year anniversary!

What aspects of your job bring you the most satisfaction?
Streamlining processes to make everyone else’s lives easier.

What do you enjoy most about the company?
I work with a variety of clients and get to learn a lot about different industries.

How did you get into cybersecurity?
I found cybersecurity through client work in the industry, and have learned a lot in the process!

What do you like most about cybersecurity?
I’ve been working adjacent to the cybersecurity industry for a while now and really appreciate how ahead-of-the-game the technology and strategy is, and will continue to be. Cybersecurity has a global impact, and on the marketing side, we have the opportunity to promote cybersecurity awareness at scale. This gives a sense of purpose to the behind-the-scenes work I do on the Marketing Ops side.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #InspireInclusion. What does that mean to you?
I believe in pursuing and celebrating diversity in all facets, and what better time than now! International Women’s Day focuses on empowering women globally. At the core of our efforts, we aim to inspire inclusivity. We strive to encourage and honor diversity, fostering an environment that embraces everyone.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I always wanted to be an astronaut growing up.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
“Don’t close your own doors.” One of my high school teachers told me this and it’s stuck with me ever since!

What is your favorite quote and why?
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Roosevelt. I strongly believe in the value of bringing passion to your work, and making an impact, through dedicated pursuit of your personal goals.

Who is your hero?
Emmy Noether – a monumental mathematician whose flagship theorem is arguably as important as Einstein’s theory as relativity. Between her contributions to the scientific community and her struggles as a female, Jewish pacifist in Germany during the early 1900s, her story is nothing short of inspiring.
