Join ThreatQ’s Gigi Schumm at Uniting Women in Cyber on March 29
POSTED BY LIZ BUSHAccording to a Forbes article published in January of this year, women comprise roughly 10% of the cybersecurity workforce. Historically, the number of women in technology companies has been low and the cybersecurity sector is no exception. In an effort to shine a light on the lack of women in the industry and increase their participation — critical to helping us address the cybersecurity talent shortage — many events are focused on driving change. The United Women in Cyber Symposium is one such event.
This symposium was created to celebrate the success of women in today’s cybersecurity sector and encourage more women to pursue careers in this exciting and critical area. Partners from corporate, government, academia, investment and non-profit institutions will come together to:
- Recognize women leaders in the cyber security industry
- Raise visibility for women in cybersecurity leadership roles
- Build connectivity and mentoring opportunities for women in cybersecurity
- Encourage women to work in the cybersecurity sector and pursue leadership roles
- Highlight issues and promote actions to bring more women into the industry
As part of the symposium on Thursday, March 29th, Gigi Schumm, Senior Vice President of World Wide Sales at ThreatQuotient will moderate a leadership panel. The panelists will discuss leadership challenges, benefits, responsibilities and what’s next for women in cybersecurity.
Gigi has over two decades of experience leading high-performing sales and services organizations, spanning commercial sales, services, channels, alliances, business development and operations. Prior to ThreatQuotient, Gigi served as VP and General Manager Public Sector at Symantec. During her 15-year tenure at Symantec, her roles included VP Eastern Area and VP Services. Gigi has also held leadership roles at various technology companies, including Oracle, NeXT Software and Sun Microsystems, and has a proven track record of leading change, optimizing sales organizations and exceeding revenue and margin goals. Additionally, Gigi hosts the long-running weekly radio show on WFED, Women of Washington, where she interviews the most accomplished female executives from the area to share their life lessons and secrets to success.
Come learn from and network with Gigi as well as other recognized women leaders in the cybersecurity industry.
